How the Next store will look

Next will open a new 75,680 sq ft flagship store for the West Midlands region at the intu Merry Hill development next spring.

The multi-million pound store will be located in a former Sainsbury’s unit and will incorporate a Lipsy, full homeware offer and coffee shop.

Shopping centre operator intu took full control of the Merry Hill centre, based 10 miles from Birmingham, and is investing £100m in extending its leisure and retail facilities. JD Sports, Topshop and River Island have all recently expanded their stores at the 1.4m sq ft centre while TAG Heuer is among the new arrivals.

“Next’s significant investment at intu Merry Hill reflects our own long term commitment to the centre and the confidence that exists in it as a destination where brands can really flourish. Our plans are to attract even more great brands and create compelling experiences for customers across the West Midlands,” said intu regional director Nick Round.

Intu control some of the UK’s most high profile shopping malls including Lakeside and The Trafford Centre among many others.
