Uniqlo to sell clothes via vending machines

Lauretta Roberts | 3rd August 2017

Uniqlo has found a novel new retail format that cuts out the costs and hassle of setting up a bricks and mortar store – the fashion vending machine.

The Japanese giant is installing 10 vending machines at airports and high footfall malls throughout the US over the coming months, including in locations such as New York and Houston. The first Uniqlo To Go machine went live today in Oakland, California at the Oakland International Airport.

Standing at six-feet high the machines will dispense warm weather staples such as lightweight down jackets and heat retaining shirts. The products are dispensed in boxes and cans and unsuitable items can be returned via mail or at a store.

2 weeks ago by indlondon Isn’t the whole point of fashion that you actually want to wear it? On that basis  @isabelmarant  SS18 was a complete triumph (and now men can wear it too). As we find ourselves becoming more and more allergic to the more ridiculous end of the fashion spectrum (those Saint Laurent bubble dresses anyone?), this show was a relief from the madness. To make beautiful things for people around the world.” British fashion retailer Jigsaw has taken over Oxford Street tube station with its ♥immigration advertising campaign and manifesto (an extract of which is featured above). The campaign celebrates diversity and the positive benefits immigration has had on its business and the country as a whole. More info and images  @indlondon  home page (link in bio).
