The Shop at Bluebird to open in Covent Garden

The Shop at Bluebird, the luxury multibrand concept store which is part of the Jigsaw group, will open a new store in Covent Garden early next year.

It has signed up for a 15,000 sq ft space covering with two retail floors and a large restaurant on the second floor in Carriage Hall on Floral Street. Near neighbours include agnès B, Diptyque and Paul Smith and the forthcoming flagship store for Kent & Curwen, the men’s heritage brand part-owned by David Beckham.

The recent refurbishment of 19th century Grade II listed Carriage Hall represents the latest phase of the redevelopment of Floral Street by Capital & Counties Properties (Capco). The conversion of Carriage Hall from office use to a contemporary retail space includes a double height glass atrium, anchoring Floral Street.

Jigsaw CEO Peter Ruis said the new store offered the “ultimate opportunity to take [the Shop at Bluebird] to the next level”. “In a world full of mediocre, identikit shop concepts, the Shop at Bluebird will be a celebration of only the finest in luxury fashion, beauty, home, lifestyle and food. It will be an international destination for all those that seek excellence in retail.”

Michelle McGrath, Director of Capco Covent Garden, added: “The Shop at Bluebird is the perfect fit for Carriage Hall and Floral Street which is returning to its fashion and lifestyle roots. Their retail excellence and curated luxury will set the store apart and complements our vision for Covent Garden, where we are creating a differentiated lifestyle location for our visitors. Along with other British heritage brands such as Kent & Curwen and Paul Smith, the signing further enhances Floral Street as a world class address.”

The Shop at Bluebird opened its first store on London’s King’s Road 12 years ago, beneath the famous Bluebird restaurant, and also has store in Guildford, Surrey, as well as spaces within Jigsaw Emporiums in St James’s and Mayfair. It stocks a range of brands from Alexander McQueen to Victoria Beckham and it online store is hosted on luxury fashion platform Farfetch.
