Intu, the owner of some of the UK’s best known shopping centres, has is inviting start-ups to take part in its 10-week incubator programme, which aims to help young businesses with ideas that will help shape the future of the retail and leisure markets.

Intu Accelerate offers businesses immersion into the intu business, which operates centres such as Lakeside and The Trafford Centre, as well as mentorship from its leadership team along with experts from the worlds of technology and business. Participants will also be given the chance to test and pilot their products and will gain access to central London office space and potential investment.

“Our business is moving at pace and, to help us answer many of the questions that face us and our industry, we’re looking for the smartest minds out there and the best talent we can find. We’re looking for businesses to work together with us to help achieve our purpose of making our customers smile and helping our retailers flourish,” said intu chief executive David Fischel.

The scheme, which has been devised in partnership with innovation specialists L Marks, which collaborates with John Lewis on its JLAB initiative, is inviting entries across four categories: Enhanced retail services; The future of shopping; Boost retailer productivity; and Wildcard.

Entrants can apply at www.intuaccelerate.co.uk until 2 July.
