Farfetch has announced that David Rosenblatt, CEO of luxury online marketplace 1stdibs, has been appointed as a non-executive board member.

Rosenblatt has headed up 1stdibs since 2011 and transformed it from an advertising model to an e-commerce marketplace. Prior to that he was the CEO of , the advertising technology vendor and display advertising marketplace, which was acquired by Google for $3.2bn in 2008.

Farfetch founder José Neves said he was “delighted” with the appointment. “David has a wealth of experience in building global technology-based businesses including and 1stdibs. We’re honored by his appointment and look forward to many years of working with him as we continue to expand our business,” Neves said.

Rosenblatt added: “José and the Farfetch team have done a fantastic job building a global, leading full-price luxury fashion e-commerce business and I am thrilled to join the board of directors to help contribute to the success of the company. Farfetch and 1stdibs have similar business models and customers, yet a different product offering, and I look forward to working with the company to further its growth.”

The appointment comes at a pivotal time for Farfetch, which recently announced a global content and commerce partnership with Condé Nast (which led to the closure of its own Style.com platform) and a strategic partnership with e-commerce giant JD.com, opening a gateway to China’s luxury market. As a result of those two deals he Farfetch board was augmented with the appointment of chairman and chief executive of Condé Nast International Jonathan Newhouse and JD.com CEO Richard Liu.

At the start of the year Net-A-Porter.com founder Dame Natalie Massenet joined the business as non-executive co-chairman.
