British-based designer Erdem has been announced as the next designer to collaborate with H&M; his collection for the global fashion giant will drop in November and will include his first ever menswear designs.

Filmmaker Baz Luhrmann has also been recruited to tell the story of the collection and a teaser video has been released today showing glimpses of the line, featuring some of Erdem’s signature floral prints on floaty dresses and a faux fur leopard coat.

“I am so happy to collaborate with H&M, and to explore my work on a whole new scale including a menswear collection which I have never done before. It’s also such a thrill to work with Baz Luhrmann, one of the most important storytellers of our time,” said Erdem.

H&M creative adviser Ann-Sofie Johansson promised the collection, which lands in selected stores and at HM.com on 2 November, will feature “special pieces you will want to wear forever“. “From the moment we started talking with Erdem about the collaboration, I was captured by his vision. For ERDEM x H&M he has created an enchanting world full of beauty, delicacy and rich details,” she said.

Luhrmann, who is known for his cult hit films Strictly Ballroom, Romeo + Juliet and Moulin Rouge! among others, said he was excited to be asked to tell the story of the collection. “For me fashion is always about more than just clothing, it is a form of expression – a stand alone art form. I am excited to be collaborating with ERDEM and H&M to reveal the story of this unique collection,” he said.

London Fashion Week designer Erdem joins an esteemed line-up of globally significant designers to join the H&M roster. Past successful collaborations have included Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Isabel Marant, Alexander Wang and Balmain among others.

Erdem established his label in 2005 having graduated from the Royal College of Art and is stocked in some of the world’s most prestigious retailers, such as Matchesfashion.com, Net-A-Porter.com, Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys and Harvey Nichols. He has won numerous awards including the 2014 British Fashion Council’s Womenswear Designer of the Year Award.
