Caroline Burstein is the creative director of Browns, a family-owned fashion mecca flagshipped on London’s South Molton Street. The iconic store sits under five connecting townhouses and is widely recognised as one of London’s most important – if not most successful – independent retailers. Browns is credited with launching the careers of many now very well established designers, discovering such talents as Christopher Kane, Alexander McQueen and John Galliano – all of whom have stocked shelves in its stores. What is it that Caroline looks for in a wholesale account? And where does she see the market moving?
A savvy business woman, Caroline has been hugely instrumental in building Browns as a brand and is still as involved today as she was 20 years ago. Caroline will be interviewed by Dolly Jones, digital strategy director of Condé Nast and an advisor to The Industry. Caroline has known Dolly since she first started at British Vogue. In this exclusive interview, Dolly will look at the history and expansion of this charming family emporium and the rise of the designer bridal market that Browns now almost exclusively owns.
