Net-A-Porter appoints Bergdorf’s van der Goltz

Net-A-Porter.com has appointed Elizabeth van der Goltz as global buying director; she has left her role senior vice president and general merchandise manager at upscale US department store Bergdorf Goodman and will join the luxury etailer this summer.

Van der Goltz will relocate to Net-A-Porter’s West London headquarters in the summer and will report to Alison Loehnis, president of Net-A-porter and Mr Porter and to Matthew Woolsey, managing director of Net-A-Porter.

She told WWD she would “apply my experience to reinforce Net-A-Porter as the number-one online destination for luxury retail.” Van der Goltz joined Neiman Marcus-owned Bergdorf Goodman in 2000 and in her most recent role was responsible for fine apparel, designer sportswear, contemporary collections, jewellery and beauty.

Her appointment comes four months after Sarah Rutson vice president of global buying at Net-A-Porter stood down after two years in the role, and she is the second high-profile departure from Bergdorf Gooman in the past few weeks. Last month the department store’s president, Joshua Schulman, stood down to take up the role of president and CEO of the Coach brand.

Loehnis said van der Goltz had “an exceptional eye for product and a deep and abiding understanding of the international luxury customer.”
