Gucci will unveil an exclusive capsule collection on MR PORTER.com next month, which has produced for the luxury menswear etailer under the direction of the brand’s celebrated chief designer Alessandro Michele.

The 43-piece collection goes on sale from 18 May and is inspired by “urbanism and self expression” and is anchored in classic tailoring silhouettes and “eccentric” sportswear. It includes ready to wear, footwear and accessories featuring Michele’s signature rich textures and fabrications in a colour palette that takes in zesty oranges and yellows, azure blues and bordeaux reds.

Gucci’s now iconic animal motifs, the bee and the tiger, are predominant throughout the collection along with new additions including the skeleton and the cat, which adorn blazer pockets and denim. Stand-out items include a lilac fil coupé shirt, a yard wool jacquard bee crewneck sweater, a blueberry-coloured technical jersey zipped jacket with paisley print and embroidered tiger, and a pair of iconic horsebit loafers in a GG wallpaper print.

Elsewhere the collection features washed denim, tailoring, technical sportswear and small accessories such as leather bracelets, cufflinks, ties and scarves. Each piece will feature an exclusive yellow Gucci label, which is unique to this capsule collection. Prices range from £140 to £2,030.

The move comes after the Italian luxury house launched a successful collaboration with MR PORTER’s sister site NET-A-PORTER.com. Gucci president and CEO Marco Bizzarri said: “We are pleased to build on the success of our exclusive capsule collection for NET-A-PORTER last year with a new capsule this time for MR PORTER, whose clients are unquestionably some of the most knowledgeable and sophisticated menswear fashion consumers in the marketplace.”

MR PORTER managing director Toby Bateman said he was “thrilled to partner with Gucci on this exclusive project, at a time when the house is so vibrant and influential in its designs. Alessandro and his team’s talents truly shine through with this unique capsule collection of iconic pieces, all of which we’re sure will be an instant success with our global customer.”

An integrated global marketing campaign will support the launch across MR PORTER’s social media, email, and website and app platforms, culminating in an exclusive MR PORTER x GUCCI video shot on location in London.
