Creative Industry Hub launches new London fashion event

Creative Industry Hub is staging new one-day conference in London next month, designed to support and educate independent fashion designers in the UK.

“Breakthrough in Fashion” will include a wide range of workshops on topics including PR, marketing, e-commerce, manufacturing & distribution, trend forecasting, building retail environments, blogging, the buying process, sustainability and manufacturing.

Each workshop is being taught by some of the UK’s leading fashion experts, including Nigel Oddy, CEO, House of Fraser, designer Paul Costelloe, Shailina Parti, buying and merchandising director, Jigsaw UK, Laetitia Wajnapel, founder and blogger at Mademoiselle Robot, Tamsin Lejeune, CEO at Ethical Fashion Forum and mysource.io, Francesca Hodge, global head of marketing and PR at Lulu Guinness and The Industry managing director Lauretta Roberts.

The event is supported by FashionUnited, FASHIONbasecamp and I.LEVEL Software and aims to help fashion design graduates and independent designers learn the relevant skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the fashion industry as an independent designer.

“Breakthrough in Fashion” is being held on 21 March 2016 at Central Working in Whitechapel. George Taylor, founder and director of Creative Industry Hub, said he hoped the event would help more designers succeed in business.

“Every year, roughly 4,000 designers graduate from university, but only a small handful of them secure in-house design roles. Independent designers are entering a highly competitive marketplace and often find it difficult to break through. I am hoping this initiative will create a fair playing ground for all, by improving fashion designers’ skills and knowledge, helping them to boost their career and/or business,” he said.

Tickets for the event are priced at £20 and can be booked here.
