Our Caroline Issa has dipped her toes into retail, producing a six-piece shoe collection for L.K.Bennett. The Industry‘s Caroline, fashion director of Tank magazine, this week revealed news that she had signed a deal with L.K.Bennett. Making her first foray into retail, Caroline has been working with the brand’s design team to produce a capsule collection of six pairs of shoes and two complimentary clutch bags.
With her eye for fashion and business brains, it was only a matter of time before our Caroline was snapped up by the high street, especially considering the sector’s recent fascination with all things fashion editor. Once upon a time, it was the fashion editor’s job to report news. Now they’re making the front page (see Anna Dello Russo of American Vogue and her sell-out collection with H&M). Whilst Caroline has been a favourite with street style photographers for quite some time, she officially marked this movement when she was asked to become the face of J.Crew earlier this year.
However at July’s meeting, Caroline exclusively told The Industry she was keen to be further involved with fashion retail. Cue L.K.Bennett. “I was excited to work on a capsule shoe collection with L.K.Bennett, a brand I admire for their craftsmanship and fantastic value. My style philosophy has always been about letting your shoes do the talking – so I tend to dress with shoes as the starting point,” explains the Industry member. Caroline’s designs – inspired by Thailand – offset L.K.Bennett’s classic design signature with embellishment, embroidery, neon shades and pom-pom fixtures idiosyncratic to the style icon.
L.K.Bennett CEO, Didier Drouet adds: “I’m delighted with our collaborative project with Caroline, it gives added flavour to our existing collections – showcasing striking designs that embody her renowned style aesthetic.”
The collection will be available to buy from L.K.Bennett flagship locations around the world from 19th February 2013.
