Online fashion giant ASOS has suffered a fire at its European warehouse in Berlin, which has destroyed millions of pounds worth of stock.
In a statement the business said that fire at the Eurohub 2 Distribution Centre was contained to one of four chambers and that no one had been hurt.
However, around 2m items of stock were contained in the chamber with a cost value of c£25m of which it estimates around 25% or c£6.25m could be compromised by fire and water damage.
Contingency plans were activated and orders were fulfilled from ASOS’ Barnsley website with the Berlin facility expected to be up and running again today. None of its technology, automation or building structure had been affected by the fire and ASOS said it was fully insured for loss of stock or any business disruption.
